Getting started with Vind AI · Step 2 of 5

What this step is about

A turbine layout is the starting point for understanding what your site can produce and how different configurations affect the outcome.

This step is about getting hands-on with the layout view, moving things around, changing a parameter, and seeing how the output responds. You don't need to get it perfect here. The goal is to get a feel for how fast and easy you can assess new layouts.

What you'll find in the layout view

  • Your project boundary on the map, with turbines placed inside it.

  • A settings panel where you can adjust parameters like turbine type, spacing, and orientation.

  • A live output panel showing key metrics that update as you make changes.

How to explore your layout

  1. Click on your park area and navigate to the Layout tool on the left-hand-side.

  2. Choose how you want to generate your layout. Select Optimise to let Vind AI find the best turbine positions automatically, or select Manual and adjust the parameters to define the grid yourself..

  3. Once you're happy with the settings, click Apply to add the layout on the map.

  4. Open the Production Analysis on the right-hand-side, and watch how the output metrics change in response.

Good to know

  • You can't break anything here, all changes are contained within your current branch and can be undone.

  • If you don't see the Layout menu, click on the park area to "activate" the menus.

  • You can also move turbines manually on the map in Edit mode if you want to fine-tune placement after generating a layout. To enter Edit mode, either double-click a turbine — it will turn yellow to show you're editing, or click a turbine and select Edit from the right-side panel. Exit this mode by pressing enter or esc..

Next step: Once you've had a chance to explore, move on to Step 3 to create your first branch.
